Jeremy Scahill: Blackwater Execs Remain Free as Guards Convicted for Killing 14 Iraqis in Massacre

via. Democracy Now

JEREMY SCAHILL: First of all, Erik Prince is a radical right-wing Christian supremacist who, from the very beginning of the so-called war on terror, viewed the role of Blackwater in the world as being neo-crusaders. And he is a radical anti-Muslim. And he hates the religion of Islam. And he—his company, basically, was allowed to operate in an atmosphere where they would kill Muslims for sport inside of Iraq.

Only Almighty SWT knows how many people these murderers truly killed. I do not believe the punishment. They will get praise, three meals a day, cable TV, ability to exercise, have access to doctors, will have family visit them, etc. That is no punishment for killers. But, they can escape justice in this world, will not in the Afterworld.

Some accountability is better than no accountability. In any case, Jeremy Scahill is doing a sterling job of exposing the abuses and excesses of Blackwater.

    LOL stupid overload.

  • Exactly. It took great courage for the judges who reversed the previous decision and to try an organization that always have had immunity or had its actions ignored. I was further impressed with the patience of those 30-some Iraqis that traveled from Iraq to USA to be part of these proceedings. Insha’Allah may more of such killers be tried and may Allah bless those courageous souls, people like the judiciary, people inside Blackwater that testified against their own colleagues and people like the Iraqi relatives that didn’t put this matter to rest. Amin.

Thanks for the perspective. My first reaction was: OK, they’ve trimmed this weed (Blackwater) rather than pulling it from its roots, but the mass killing of the overall military campaign will continue. But you’re right, it’s a positive step that will save the lives of a few people who would otherwise fall victim to more of such murderers in the future. Those saved lives are a big thing. … This endless war gets me so pessimistic. A positive perspective is need.

  • One step, at a time! For me, it’s a big thing that the killers on the ground got punished.

Ah yes, those punk mercenaries that ran over civilians and vandalizing Iraq like it was some kind sick game. All in the name of protecting Iraqi civilians.
